Recently in media we have all been working hard to get our 'tekkers' up to a good/great standard, perfecting our skills on final cut! I found this quite challenging as it is complicated to ensure that you get everything precisely right so takes a lot of fiddling. however we are getting used to using the programme now and are becoming more comfortable which is good!!! This means that we can do some funky effects when in comes to making our music video!! we have also found that youtube is one of the best teachers for final cut as it can give you a visual representation! There are some good tutorials in which show you what to do on screen while talking you through it. They are also in simple steps which makes it easy to follow! My favourite editing technique so far is the simpleness of changing the colour, i find this interesting and fun to play around with! Furthermore i really like adding the set effects onto a clip, especially the distort ones as these turn out to be really funny and make everyone laugh!! However a more complicated but favourite editing technique is the split screen, however from our test run we have found out this take LOTS of planning and thinking before you even start to film it! The overall prodect of this technique is good but the timings are hard to match up. However after thinking about it in relation to my music video i feel that there shouldnt be as much of a problem as we will have a set track over the top so there can be no problems with dialogue! :D
In our media lesson on friday we were allowed to put these skills into action by filming a short practise music video which i LOVED doing!! We had to use a song by the Exponents called 'why does love do this to me'. This song is incredibly catchy and i love it!! I feel this was a good song to do our practise video to as it was an upbeat song!! (this stopped us from getting stressy and kept us singing along) We had a few ideas in which we messed around with in which included some split screens and some lip sync!! Ahhh editing will be stressfull!!!
