Filming!

We have started filming!!! we have filmed quite a bit meaning that we are able to start editing when we get back to school! However whilst we were filming we made some changes to our original plan. After difficulties in which forse our chosen 'actress' to pull out left us with having charlotte as the new actress in which worked really well and she was perfect for the part. We also changed out location and some of the shots as we have now decided it would be too hard to film at night as we do not have the correct equipment in which would allow us to do this so we have therefore used a woods instead of a street and the sunlight instead of a street light.

Charlotte's initial thriller opening idea.

The thriller opening will consist of three different characters, including a girl named Breagh Davies and the shadows of a middle aged lady and a boy around the age of seven. Breagh would wear pale colours to show her vulnerability and use the codes and conventions of a thriller film to sort out the type of clothing that she should wear. The little boy will be wearing black to show that he may potentially be danger towards Breagh. Also, the mother will be wearing pale colours to represent vulnerability and to link with her past.

The story line consists of a young girl, in her teenage years who's mother and unborn brother died a year before. The anniversary of their death is closely coming up and Breagh has been feeling weird things around her and feeling as if she is being watched. The opening will include flashbacks from Breagh's past of her memories of her mother. This will build tension and also there will be dramatic music used to build up the tension to see what happens in the end of the opening. On the actual day, Breagh goes to visit the field where her family died and she has flashbacks of her childhood, and feels people behind her, watching over her.

The shots will be quick so that it is dramatic and the ending will consist of dark lighting to suggest that something dangerous and bad will happen. The ending will leave on a cliffhanger which is a part of the codes and conventions of a thriller. Here are a few pictures of what some of the locations or costumes might be:

I enjoyed looking at this previous student work as it gave me an insight on the do's and dont's.
By looking at this opening I was able to see the good points and the bad points within this opening, allowing me and my group to learn from this and help us in making our opening.

The Point of view shot was good at the start but I felt it dragged on for a bit too long and left the audience uninterested and unknown on what's going on. The location for me felt too cosy and at home and didn't coinside with the context of the opening.

The suspense at the start left the audience wondering and made them remain firmly in their seat. The unkown at the start also kept the audience watching which is good if they understand just a little after. I felt the mirror scene was very good because it brought in a different character and was very tense and dramatic which is good.

Overall, i felt this was a very good opening and will help me and my group woth our own project due to highlighting the codes and conventions of a thriller opening.
